Issued by the Royal Australian Mint, this special 20 cent commemorative coin marks the 50th anniversary of Australia’s transition to decimal currency on 14 February 1966, when the Australian florin was replaced by the 20 cent coin.

This coin is part of the “Decimal Changeover” series, celebrating Australia’s pre-decimal coinage history. Uniquely, this series features the commemorative design on the obverse (unlike most commemoratives), while retaining the traditional platypus reverse designed by Stuart Devlin.
